New mums - feel free to just pop in for half an hour if that's all the time you have between feeds, it would just be nice to meet you. As mums ourselves, we will try to answer some of your questions about local activities.Hope to see many of you there - do let us know if you can make it so we can make sure we've got a suitable area reserved.

What about fathers?
It says new parents. I think fathers count.
What about farmers though?
And farters? Where are the special events for them?
my thoughts exactly.
It also says new mums!
What about Doggers?
We had antenatal classes with the PNCT ( thier paramilitary wing). to my mind they showed themselves to be a bunch of nutters, who gave us unreliable medical advice , were wobbly on facts generally and , in this case, had a freezer full of frozen placentas. slight exaggeration but you get the picture
I have been lamenting about this wretch of a building for months. I noticed when it was being built how it had encroached on the pavement.
If it is a some type of half way house then that is so depressing, why are there are so many around here, spread them out a bit!
whoops wrong thread.
Yes, the NCT's educational and political activities are dubious...but they are a good way to meet other new parents in the area...
they appeared to regard fathers as an unnecessary appendage as well. I remember being asked to join in with an infantile card game designed to show just how hard it is to be an expectant mum. I think the metaphor they were searching for was that one slight change and every thing comes tumbling down. FFS,i remember thinking.
Running Nutter, I agree that the whole ante-natal-industrial complex is designed to make expectant fathers feel guilty, worthless and infantile, with every midwife I have met intent on patronising me throughout the childbirth process.
But this is a group of parents having a get together, so time to let your resentment go. Go and listen to some whale music and turn your tens machine up to "barely effective".
Two wrongs don't make right. But having said, men being on the receiving end of being patronised may well help them to understand what being a woman is like in this society a lot of the time.
I refer you to your first sentence :)
See you all at JC.
Riot Purll - thanks for the contribution.....................
Who will be minding the children?
The staff carrying hot coffees and plates of food, just like in Brockley Mess!
'Yes, the NCT's educational and political activities are dubious'
what are they?
I suppose it's good to make contact with people prepared to listen to the intricate details of how often and how long baby sleeps and does other bodily functions - and look like they care, but after that time to move out into events with other mothers fathers and carers, believe the NCT does have some good sales though. Networking.
Does anyone know when the next one is please?
